Twilight Talks: Storm Stories from Sanibel: HURRICANE IAN (Shell Point Tribby Arts Center)

The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village announces a collaborative showing of its documentary Storm Stories from Sanibel: HURRICANE IAN on Monday, November 17  at 2:00 p.m. located at the Tribby Arts Center at Shell Point, 17281 On Par Boulevard, Fort Myers. Tickets are $30 and available to purchase through Shell Point.

This documentary marks the second installment of Ken Sneeden’s series on how hurricanes have shaped Sanibel. Storm Stories premiered in March 2025; this screening at Tribby marks only the second time the documentary has been available to the public.

Rather than focusing on nature’s wrath, this film centers on the generosity of human nature and the extraordinary community spirit that arose from the destruction of the Island.  To those who say, “I don’t want to think about Ian or watch any more footage,” you might reconsider.  Storm Stories from Sanibel?illustrates the depth of the small community’s roots. Near the end of the work, Chamber Director John Lai somberly, but sagely observes, “what Ian did was put the?unity?back in?community.”
